Have you seen the smart new dog litter bins at Long Reach?

Being the owner of a dog brings many joys. However, the unpleasant by-product of dog ownership is dealing with dog mess. Most owners are responsible and clean up after their dogs but a minority allow their dogs to foul in public places. This causes offence to non dog owners and may result in dogs being banned from local open spaces and heathland. Living in Horsley, we have access to some of the finest open countryside in the county. Please don’t let us spoil this excellent resource by being thoughtless.

How can you be a responsible dog owner?

• You could teach your dog to use a spot in the garden BEFORE it goes for a walk. The ‘pooh’ can then be either bagged and disposed of safely or digested in a sunken dog loo.
• You could carry one or two simple plastic bags in which to scoop up accidents or give to other dog owners when out in public places.
• Please use the dog litter bins where provided.
