What is a Parish Plan?
It is a plan for the community produced by the community. The results are used to form a plan for local action and the plan can be used to influence others. The community set the questions and methods of consultation. Often Parish Councils take the lead in initiating Parish Plans but the steering group should be made up of a wide variety of community representatives.
Who should be involved?
The whole community should be consulted. Everyone’s view is valuable. There are lots of parts to play in the process such as distribution of questionnaires, data analysis, and being part of a group to carry out identified actions etc.
Why do a Parish Plan?
Lots of reasons. It helps to bring the community closer together by working together and identifying local issues which can then be discussed. Results from a Parish Plan can then be used as evidence to support other grant applications to carry out actions identified in the Parish Plan.
Who Funds the Plan?
Funding to carry out a Parish Plan are available from the Parish Council precept. The cost to produce a Plan costs from £1000 to £2500. The plan need not be lengthy or glossy.
