West Horsley is a dynamic and friendly community which hosts a wealth of organisations and services. The formal representation of residents is through the elected Parish Council composed of local residents, which holds monthly meeting to which all are welcome. There is a section of each meeting given over to the public providing them with an opportunity to speak at on any subject concerning the village that they wish to raise. There are clubs and societies covering a wide range of activities for all ages and sporting and cultural interests, many of these are supported in small ways by the Council. It is also a caring community as is often found in rural villages. There are several large business establishments and a host of smaller ones providing a convenient array of services for households as well as excellent primary, junior and middle schools for children. Newcomers are welcomed and many who move to West Horsley choose to put down their roots here.
In the wider community the village enjoys the support of Guildford Borough Council and Surrey County Council with whom close links have been in place for many years. Similarly there is mutual support with the officers of the Community section of the Surrey Police Force.
The Parish Council as well as representing residents is open to working with voluntary organisations from which many people benefit. If you would like to front an initiative, do come and discuss it with the Council.
